Gillard still a closet socialist
25th June 2010

I've been quoted in the Education Review on Gillard's ascension to PM, see below:

“Julia Gillard's promotion to Prime Minister, based on her record as minister for education, has a number of implications,” said Dr Kevin Donnelly of the Education Standards Institute.
“Gillard is from the ALP left and given the prospect of a tight election, will want to placate groups like the Australian Education Union that traditionally run strong campaigns for the ALP. As such, expect Catholic and independent schools to lose funding as a result of the forthcoming funding review and to be forced to implement government policy in areas like staffing, enrolments and adopting the government's policies in areas like social justice.
“Under Rudd's education revolution, education became highly centralised, bureaucratic and statist in its approach. Expect more of the same for the new PM. In addition, Gillard favours a strong left-wing agenda in areas like overcoming disadvantage and imposing an ideological view of the curriculum - especially in politically correct areas like feminism, multiculturalism, promoting a secular view of society and embracing diversity and difference.”
