High social mobility in OZ

One of the assumptions underlying the ALP's education revolution, and much of the left's critique of Australian education more generally, is that schools contribute to inequality and disadvantage.  Research related to the OECD PISA tests suggests that such is not the case in Australia, in fact, compared to other nations, we have a stronger record in terms of education contributing to social mobility. 

A recent report by the UK Sutton Trust concludes that so-called disadvantaged children in Australia, compared to the UK, the US and Germany, have a greater chance of educational success. See the following article.
